Welcome to my blog!
I have always wanted to try out gradient nails, having seen them on lots of the blogs I follow. I decided to practice them on my set of false nails first. I used a few different colour combinations to see what works best.
I am a big pink fan so all the looks feature a lot of it! Firstly, I tried a nude and a hot pink. The nude is Nails Inc 'Porchester Square' and the pink is Orly 'Fancy Fuchsia'. Firstly, I did one coat of the nude colour and waited for it to dry. I then painted the sponge with a thick stripe of nude and a thick stripe of pink and sponged it on the nail. I sponged it a few times to get a more 'gradienty' effect. I think the result is subtle but very pretty!
I picked up both the sponges and false nails on ebay. I did the same with both the other colour combinations. The more peachy version is Essie 'Knockout Pout' and Face Stockholm 'Neon Sunset' and the other is Essie 'Lovie Dovie' and Face Stockholm 'Glowing Glowing Gone'. I think I am going to have a hard time deciding which to put on my nails first!
The last thing I tried was a gradient of loose glitter. I bought this in 'Hairspray' for about 3 euro. I used a fan brush I bought on ebay to spread the glitter into the polish while it was still wet. The polish is Essie 'Lovie Dovie'.
It is quite gritty to the touch so it could probably do with an extra layer of topcoat. I'm not too sure about this one, maybe I need to try a different combination?
I will do an update with the chosen colours on my actual nails. It might be a bit more difficult so hopefully it turns out well!
Thanks for reading! xxx
