Essie Shearling Darling Review!

Hi Everyone,

It's another busy few weeks for me. I have an exam this week in Edinburgh and one next week in Manchester. These are practical exams so less intense than normal but still not very fun! I was also travelling for work last week so I'm looking forward to calmer times in November!

Luckily I have had time to do my nails though!

When I saw Essie's new Shearling Darling winter collection, I knew I had to have it. Rich burgandies and navy, really wintery and also would fill a gap in my collection. Luckily for me, my four favourite shades were available in a mini collection so I ordered it on ebay.

The two that I was most drawn to were 'Toggle to the Top' and 'Sable Collar'.

L-R Sable Collar, Toggle to the Top
Toggle to the Top is a deep red/black glitter. This was fully opaque in two coats and is such a lovely colour for the upcoming Xmas season.

Sable Collar reminds me a little of Chanel's Particuliere. It has a beautiful sheen that gives a purple hue but is mainly a metallis-esque minky brown colour.

The purple really shows with the flash on!
I do love Essie products and I really love that they are available in minis as realistically you never finish the bottle. I paid $20 including delivery for this set which I think is good value as Essie's are about €10+ each in the shops here.

I'm looking forward to trying out the other two colours, the slightly plainer ones - Shearling Darling and Mind Your Mittens. There seems to have been some confusion over Mind Your Mittens and Parka Perfect as to which was which (a black-blue vs a powder blue) but my Mind Your Mittens is the black blue colour. (I think potentially an early press release on some other blogs gave different info)

Top Row: Mind Your Mittens, Shearling Darling
Bottom Row: Sable Collar, Toggle to the Top
So in all, I am really in love with this collection. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of these colours.

What do you think?

    1. Yeah, I think it's one of the stand-out shades. I love how deep the colour is, not just a red glitter.
