I've had a busy week! I went to Edinburgh to do an actuarial exam and I'm going to Manchester for another exam tomorrow. I also went to the musical 'Priscilla Queen of the Desert' and I'll be going to Billy Joel on Friday.
My mum brought me to Mink for a bit of relaxation on Saturday and I was really excited to try out Artistic Colour Gloss. It's like Shellac, Gelish etc. Since it's a bit colder now, I decided to go for a nice dark colour.
This is Imperial. It's really hard to describe. It's a bluey-greeny-dark colour. There is a very subtle shimmer glitter to it that's not obvious unless you're in good light.
I would actually love a colour like this in normal nail varnish but I can't find anything that's exactly the same.
The Mink experience is lovely. The surroundings are very plush and sumptuous. I was in the Donnybrook branch, the Ballsbridge one is much bigger and less cramped but Donnybrook is nice too! With the ACG, you get a mini manicure so filing and shaping, cuticle work etc.
One of the things I love about getting a gel colour is that your nails are dry immediately. I will miss being able to change colour for two weeks though!
The colour is really, really glossy. I've only had it on for two days so I can't comment on how long it will last but I normally get a full two weeks from other brands.
The one thing that was a little annoying was that the girl was a little over-enthusiastic on the filing and filed my fingers on two nails. It's like a paper cut and surprisingly sore!
It's a bit pricey at €55 but the colour selection is really nice and the colours have a lovely depth to them. You are also guaranteed a good application and nice surroundings.
I can definitely see myself getting this again and trying some of the other colours.
Have you every been to Mink or tried this type of gel nails?
