Recently I picked up the OPI Sheer Tints Mini Tints set on ebay. I had seen this on a few blogs online and decided to give it a try. I went for the minis as I could never see myself using a full bottle of any of these, as nice as they are.
Basically these are topcoats which are very sheer meaning you would not use them on their own. They are good for changing the colour of another polish or for when you want sheer colour. A word of warning, they are pretty gloopy in comparison with normal polish, a bit like using Seche Vite.
I decided to go for a white base to show the colours up best. I applied two coats of OPI's Alpine Snow. I tried a few things that didn't really work with the sheer tints so settled on my favourite technique - the gradient.
I applied a stripe of each colour to a sponge and dabbed it onto each nail, topping the sponge up regularly.
I used the yellow (I'm Never Amberrassed), pink (Be Magentale with Me) and purple (Don't Violet Me Down) and left out the blue (I Can Teal You Like Me). I found the blue one had the most vivid colours and wasn't as good for that washed out look the others have.
I thought I might increase the fun factor by applying my new Essie product - a glitter topcoat called Carnival. It's very similar to Chine Glaze's Fairy Dust.
I then used a topcoat of Jessica's Brilliance.
I really love these nails. They are so fun for summer and the gradient is really nice and subtle.
Hope you enjoy them too!
