Recently I was kindly sent a set of Waxperts Ingrown Hair Pads. Waxperts started off as an Irish waxing salon but now do their own brand of wax and now these ingrown hair pads.
Lots of us (both men and women) have an issue with ingrown hairs. Be it beard/stubble rash, bikini line, on our legs etc. Ingrown hairs are caused when a hair that is either regrowing from under the skin or has been shaved so short it is below 'skin level'. When the hair tries to force its way to above the skin, it often cannot break through. Instead, it grows back into the skin. With nowhere to go, the follicle becomes infected.
They can be very painful and are also unsightly.
So, Waxperts Ingrown Hair Pads to the rescue! The main active ingredient is salicylic acid. This is the same chemical as aspirin and is also common in acne products. Why it works is that it causes skin cells to shed more rapidly. This will enable hairs to break through more easily. It will also unclog the pores.
The design of the pads is a slightly rough disc. This provides an exfoliating action which helps to relieve ingrown hairs. There are other ingredients which are there to help moisturise the skin and reduce inflammation and itching.
I started using these a few weeks ago after a trip to the salon for a waxing treatment. I do get a lot of ingrown hairs and have not found other products great so I was eager to see how I fared with these. I remembered to use them almost every day, in conjunction with using my scrubby gloves in the shower.
Overall, they did not totally get rid of my issue but they did reduce it a lot. Unfortunately I did forget to bring them on my work trip to the UK which was a bad idea as I missed a couple of days use. I found them a lot easier to use than other products I have tried as they are pre soaked, not messy and unlike sprays, they just go where you want. For me, a reduction is a good result.
I can see myself using these every day as part of my routine. You get 40 in a pack so they will last over a month at one a day. They are only €7.99 a pack which makes them very affordable. I think these are a really handy and effective product and I will get them again when my (almost empty) pack runs out.
